In February 2026, NIA released the U.S. Nuclear Energy Project Tracker to help stakeholders understand the status of early mover projects in the United States with respect to five key indicators: (1) site selection and site work, (2) licensing, (3) project teaming, (4) offtake, and (5) funding. The October 2026 update to that tracker is available today. Here are a few highlights:
-
In September, the NRC approved the Construction Permit for TVA’s BWRX-300 at Clinch River.
-
In September, Antares and Centrus announced a contract to supply HALEU before 2030.
-
In October, DOE approved Last Energy’s Documented Safety Analysis for their pilot reactor at Texas A&M–RELLIS.
-
The October 2026 update adds the five Project Janus reactors to the tracker. They were announced in August and September as: Antares R1 (Fort Bragg), BWXT BANR (Fort Campbell), General Atomics GA-TES (Fort Hood), Radiant Kaleidos (Fort Benning), and the Westinghouse eVinci (Fort Drum).
Check out the tracker for details on each project and stay tuned, as progress is accelerating with respect to all five key indicators.
