Washington D.C. The Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) shared the following statement in response to the Senate confirmation of Matthew Marzano to serve as a Commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). This statement may be attributed to NIA Executive Director Judi Greenwald:

"The Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) commends the U.S. Senate for confirming Matt Marzano to serve as a Commissioner of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Mr. Marzano’s extensive technical expertise, including his background as a nuclear engineer and senior reactor operator, along with his experience on the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, uniquely positions him to accelerate Commission efforts to enable the effective, efficient, and predictable regulation of nuclear energy and nuclear technology.

As the NRC continues its work to modernize nuclear regulation, we are confident that Commissioner Marzano will provide valuable leadership and technical insights to the Commission. His confirmation ensures a full complement of five Commissioners, enabling the Commission to function more effectively and efficiently as a collegial body. We look forward to Commissioner Marzano’s contributions towards helping to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient deployment of nuclear energy technologies.”
